Valdés Peninsula
UNESCO World Heritage marine wildlife: southern right whales, penguins, elephant seals, and orcas on the Patagonian coast.
Overview
Valdés Peninsula
Valdés Peninsula is one of the world's most important marine wildlife sanctuaries, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Between June and December, southern right whales arrive in Puerto Madryn to breed. Year-round you can see Magellanic penguins, elephant seals, sea lions, and, with luck, the famous orcas hunting on the beach. Punta Tombo hosts the largest continental penguin colony in South America.
